Second lesson!

Today we were asked to use the flash lights instead of just the standard LED lights. I found these lights were better as you can adjust them more and they give off a nicer light. We experimented with various fake fruits and flowers today and tried to add an advert style approach to them to bring something that is dead to life. Here are some of the better photos that we took:

I like how all of these images appear to be adverts but then add different aspects that mean they are not. For example, the last image is actually a Maltesers packet filled with grapes, perhaps suggesting that a lot of adverts are a lie. The middle image appears to be a photo of fresh fruit when in actual fact it is of plastic fruit, highlighting the fact that many foods photographed for advertisement actually are not real.

First lesson!

In our first lesson we explored using the photography studio in general and experimented by taking some random still life photos. My group attempted to make our photos 3D by adding a photo frame on top of the flowers and blanket that we were photographing. I found our first lesson helpful as I had only been in the photography studio once before and so had not had much experience.

Here are two of the better photos my group took:

I like the colours used in the photos as well as the 3D effect from the photo frame. The photos give a falling impression, as though someone has dropped them and then taking a photo. I also think it reminds me of horror films with the red black and white colour scheme.
